Teams from all over Europe came to Folkestone this summer to take part in Southern Robotic Mayhem, a competition for robot enthusiasts of all ages. Made popular by the BBC series Robot Wars, this family event at The Leas Cliff Hall attracted 25 teams with famous robots from the television series.

AdVision TV's outside broadcast unit was there to capture the action with 8 cameras. Our Ikegami channels captured the main action with additional cameras acquiring angles that the public wouldn't normally see! Our 5 metre Polecam provided sweeping aerial shots, whilst one of our miniature radio cams was placed inside"Cruncher 2" and provided a robot's eye view of the action. Although the robot received a beating , the camera survived the hostilities and gave excellent footage to the live mix which was also projected around the theatre on huge screens.

All the live PA and graphics to the floor were played in from the truck, which was the nerve centre on the day. Music cues and additional effects were played in from MiniDisc players with robot statistics generated from our Aston Motif XL.

A duplication bay was erected inside the theatre producing VHS recordings of the show for the public to buy. You can purchase your own copy of our 50min highlights programme featuring the best bouts of the weekend priced at £9.95. The DVD priced £14.95 also contains interactive features and stats of all the robots that competed. Please add £2.50 for P&P.
