There will probably be few assignments that touch so vividly on the weird as did the two days spent covering Birmingham Opera’s staging of the Stockhausen Opera ‘Mittwoch aus Licht’. It all happened at a former chemical works in Birmingham and involved instrumentalists performing in helicopters, audience lying on their backs to view suspended action aloft and, of course, a dancing camel!
